Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican-American sportscaster. Her current job is with ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter and occasionally host SportsNation. She joined ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a TV reporter. Antonietta has been bilingual since age nine. Her skill was instrumental in securing her first job as a an assistant to the production team at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she worked with the producers of programs including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. She was hired as a reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. After 2009, the news reporter relocated from St. Petersburg to Rio Grande Valley Texas where she was employed by KNVO TV 48 Univision as in addition to Fox2 News. In addition to reporting on issues related to trafficking in drugs and immigration on both sides of the border, she was a reporter on the 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor, reporter and later anchor for the 9 p.m. newscast, which was in English, and another reporter for the at 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. Also, she was often requested to serve as a sports and weather anchor. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate and she assumed additional responsibilities. She produced pieces about Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS, and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. She was the producer of Univision 23 Accion Deportiva Extra and anchored it. She was advertised as a sports anchor on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. The same role she was employed by Primer Impacto (a network magazine) and Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta Collins' parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. They moved at some point in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. She has a sister. She has an older sister. Soon after they separated, and in the year 1995, Fabio Fajardo remarried. He passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. On a trip Antonietta was staying at the house of her sister Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sister had just landed the job of his dreams. Antonietta, a high-school senior who had a vision of how she wanted her future to be like, visited Mount Union University to determine what she could get out of the college. It was an amazing campus. They also offered her the program she was interested in. Following her graduation from her high school education, she chose to enroll at the university and major in media studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also WRMU's 91.1FM station, where she was employed over the years, became her friend. His passion for journalism and confidence in herself encouraged her. In turn, she was determined to achieve his standards and not disappoint him.
